We didn’t have much more to offer than challenges and opportunities but, for creative minds this is the most important thing. We attracted extraordinary people who relish a challenge. This created a place where ideas can quickly become reality.

Our Story

We launched the Elypsia Records label in 1993. In those days it was still highly unusual for a DJ to perform around the world. High-Tech Electronic Dance Music was about to explode and conquer the world and we were very lucky to be in the front seat to watch it from a short distance and become a part of it.

 

The music that had arrived in the late 80s from cities like Detroit, Chicago, Manchester, Frankfurt and Ibiza left us speechless. From what seemed at first to be a temporary hype matured, evolved and became more and more sophisticated.

It was new, raw, fresh, dark, captivating, hypnotizing, soulful, intriguing, complex sometimes and so human...

 

Needless to say, this music had a deep influence on many of us. Everything seemed possible and in 1993 launching a label dedicated to this new genre of music seemed like the natural extension to our club promoter's activity.

​

The music that would later be released stood the test of time and proved that we were right.

​

Elypsia Records released about 35 records and after the turn of the century the label morphed into a niche distributor where about 150 records were released.

 

Twenty years later, the original label has not been forgotten and is still revered by many fans. Many releases from the early days are considered classics today.

Our founder's career as an entrepreneur in the music industry spans over 20 years. During that time the entire industry witnessed a constant decline in sales and experienced severe difficulties all around the world.

In 2014 the decision was taken to restart the label and continue the journey where we left it 10 years before. In 2016, Elypsia Records became reality again.

​​

"The ears of the general audiences have matured. While our music was considered merely an underground subgenre that wasn't going to last, today our music has acquired near-mainstream status. People regard Techno as a mature genre, just like Jazz, Funk or Hip-Hop.
